OVERVIEW.

20. Chosen for your significance to one another, you are one of the Victors of the 98th Hunger Games and now one of the Tributes of the 100th Hunger Games. They never should have allowed two Victors of disparate Districts to remain together, and it is only by way of nostalgia, marketing, and THE HAMLET’s miracle workings that you and THE HAWK were able to survive together. As such, you are not surprised when you board the train to the Capitol and see a video feed of immortal Caesar Flickerman discussing the comparisons between you and THE HAWK and the past pair of Victors, in particular how fitting it is that you be Reaped for the 4th Quarter Quell. This is one of the many ways in which you have been made into a ghost.

Truth be told, you might have been better off had you not have a a photographic memory. As such, you could never forget the mild-mannered, dove-like HAWK, who played with you in District 12’s Meadow, and you could much less kill them after all the love they gave you when no one else would look at you. You see, you were dropped on your parents’ doorstep as a newborn. There were no reports of birthing screams during the night before your cries woke them. You were a mystery, seemingly coming from nowhere and everywhere. Rumors followed that you were birthed by ravenous wolves, a muttation much like the mockingjays of the woods. Your early tenacity only seemed to prove this theory. Once it was discovered by the Capitol that you were not documented, your entire family was investigated, and the District, including and especially THE HAWK, watched as you were dragged away, kicking and screaming. You were relocated to District 7, where you were put to labor in an orphanage. Volunteering at the age 18 for your pseudo-sister, you won the hearts of the nation with your talents and your integrity. Most of all, it was THE HAWK that made you lovable, as he recalled during his interview those days where you were both oddities in quiet allyship and how ironically tragic that, after all these years, you would find each other again as Tributes, where the word ally means something wholly different.

QUICK FACTS:

CONNECTIONS.

THE REAPER — After you won your Games, they performed the first 3D-printed and fully autonomous prothesis surgeries. They tended to your wounds post-op, and as such, you have built a strange and endearing friendship. You were slow to accept their help or the shoulder they lent you, though it is fair to say that the trepidation was mutual.

THE HAMLET — Notoriously, you pair do not get along. It is not a well-kept secret that THE HAMLET prefers working with THE HAWK over you. In essence, you both share too many similarities, too much of the same verve, and perhaps a similar penchant for dangerous rebellion. You are not subtle, but neither were they. You once shared a midnight phone call with them where they told you how they won their Games and why their family is gone. Their story is one of caution, so you have taken to isolation and being a figurehead for a state you do not believe in begrudgingly but with the knowledge that you are saving your loved ones of D7.

THE HERMIT — You met on the Victory Tour for your Games. THE HAWK introduced them as their mentor, on par with their parent. As such, THE HERMIT took you as another one of their many adopted kin. You have confided in them your feelings regarding THE HAWK, the guilt and trauma from the Games, etc. They offer advice that only a parent to a Victor could offer, and they remind you of the parents you once had.

THE HAWK — It is up to the players whether or not there is any romantic inclination between them. However, on your side, you have felt slighted by their coolness following your Games. You cite them for why you are still living today, and the comfort they offered during your Games is something you miss. The isolation forced upon you by Snow and the consequences of you both surviving has made their chilliness all the more unbearable. Most of all, you miss their friendship, which was so easy even during your first Games. Now, you are unsure if they are even on your side going into this second one. You owe them your life, though, so you take this coolness as regret. With the knowledge that only one of you can survive the 100th Games, you expect to sacrifice yourself in the name of their life… if you don’t change you mind about them first.
